Windy Point is a wealthy, densely populated neighborhood. Some people live there year round, but there are a lot of summer homes as well. Resilience depends on the tax revenue collected from the homes. Climate Change will affect Windy Point in several ways.

Threat 1: Sea Level Rise

Scientists predict that the sea level in Long Island Sound will rise between 1.5 and 3.5 feet in the next 50 years. Here is what Windy Point will look like if this happens. Blue areas are underwater; green areas are low-lying and wet. These maps show sea levels during normal weather (no storms). If the sea level rises, then significant parts of Windy point will flood during normal high tides.

Threat 2: Storms

As a result of climate change, storms in Connecticut will be more frequent and more intense. Windy Point is already at risk from big storms, and bigger storms combined with seal level rise will greatly increase flooding. If a category 3 hurricane hit, most of Windy Point would be under at least 9 feet of water. Windy Point is a dangerous place to stay during a storm!
