Beach Nourishment

The beach looked great for a few years after the replenishment, and everyone was thrilled!  However, the storm carried away most of the beach sand, so you’re back to square one and need to do it again.  The wider beach may have helped reduce property damage.

Grant Program

The business owner and one of the two homeowners applied for the grants and elevated their properties, and the beach continued to slowly shrink.  During the storm, water reached all three properties, but the elevated buildings were barely damaged!  The remaining home experienced significant flood damage, and that homeowner then decided to rebuild and elevate too.

Build a Seawall

The seawall did its job – the waves didn’t reach the waterfront buildings!  Almost the entire beach in front of the seawall was swept away in the storm, so a major beach nourishment project is needed.  Still, everyone is happy that the damages weren’t greater – the beachfront homeowners are calling you a hero!

Managed Retreat

Two of the property owners accepted the buy-out before the storm, and those buildings were replaced by dunes.  The last remaining house experienced extreme damage from the waves and flood – that homeowner won’t rebuild.  The beach is doing great!  Your critics are still grumbling about the high cost of the buy-out and the lost tax revenue from those buildings, but everyone else is happy with the new look of the beach.

The business owner and one of the two homeowners applied for grants and elevated their properties, and the last homeowner decided to do the same when she rebuilt after the storm.  The beach looked great after the beach nourishment, although in the wake of the storm you are back to square one and need to do it again.

Beach Nourishment + Seawall

The seawall did its job – the waves didn’t reach the waterfront buildings!  Almost the entire beach in front of the seawall was swept away in the storm, so a much more expensive beach nourishment project is needed.  Still, everyone is happy that the damages weren’t greater – the beachfront homeowners are calling you a hero!

Grants + Sealwall

The seawall did its job – the waves didn’t reach the waterfront buildings!  Only one of the beachfront property owners took advantage of the grant program – the others feel protected by the seawall and see no need.  Almost the entire beach in front of the seawall was swept away in the storm, so a major beach nourishment project is needed.  Still, everyone is happy that the damages weren’t greater – the beachfront homeowners are calling you a hero!
